Max Verstappen still belongs to the category of young drivers, but at the same time he has already accumulated a lot of experience as a Formula 1 driver. The 23-year-old Dutchman going into his seventh season, and looks back on the start of his career in a video.

 
 

 

 

The Red Bull for Real series, which can be watched on Red Bull Racing's YouTube channel, focuses on Max Verstappen in the latest episode. He talks about his switch from Toro Rosso to Red Bull Racing and how it felt to be the youngest Grand Prix winner ever when he won his first race.

Verstappen looks back on his Formula 1 career

"It was nice to see look back on my first Formula One victory," Verstappen says. "Normally you wouldn't do that unless someone asked, and it's funny how many little things you remember. It seems so long ago, because I'm now starting my seventh F1 season."

Verstappen's story is accompanied by animations. For example, he tells about the time his father Jos called him about a possible switch to Red Bull the next race. "I said: 'You're crazy, what are you talking about? I drive for Toro Rosso", I didn't believe him. Later Helmut Marko invited me to come to Graz," Verstappen said.

"We sat there for an hour without anything really coming out, and suddenly he said, "Oh, by the way, you're driving for Red Bull next week. Then I had to go to the factory in Milton Keynes to try on the seat and I had to drive a lot on the simulator. I replied with 'okay', as if it was the most normal thing in the world," says Verstappen.
