Max Verstappen expected more from qualifying for the Qatar Grand Prix. The Dutchman finished second behind Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes , but the gap was almost half a second.

"There was no more in it unfortunately. When I crossed the line I thought I had a pretty good lap, but then I heard the gap and it was quite big. We didn't have the easiest weekend to tune the car anyway, but that gap is a bit too big in my opinion. Still second, anything can happen. When you have such a big gap, I don't expect much in the race either," Verstappen told the Ziggo Sport camera.

Dirty side for Verstappen

The first corner has been important in every race, but Verstappen will start from the dirty side of the track in tomorrow's race. The Dutchman is not too worried.

Jack Plooij asked if he's in a good spot. "I don't know. I don't think about it too much. We'll see for ourselves," said Verstappen.
