Max Verstappen could have increased his lead in the world championship during the Brazilian Grand Prix, but nothing was further from the truth. With his win, Hamilton cut the deficit down to 14 points with three races remaining. These are the conclusions after the thrilling race weekend.

Hamilton fights back in Brazil

Those who thought Verstappen was close to bringing Hamilton to his knees were deceived. The British driver suffered multiple disappointments in Brazil, with a disqualification and a five-place grid penalty, but nothing distracted him from his goal of winning the race. Hamilton moved up the field at lightning speed in both the sprint race and Sunday's race, proving he will not give up until the final corner in Abu Dhabi.

Verstappen gets the most out of his car

On Friday it was clear Hamilton had the faster car last weekend. That was not only because of the car itself but also because of the new combustion engine in the car. It was therefore an almost impossible task for Verstappen to keep his competitor behind him, but he managed to do so for quite a while on Sunday night. Verstappen showed once again that he is getting everything out of his car this season.

Title fight continues to Abu Dhabi

Several times this season it looked as if Hamilton and Verstappen would let go of each other in the world championship, but each time the number two fought back. It's exactly the part that makes this season so interesting. That is why it is now likely that the titanic battle between the Red Bull Racing and Mercedes drivers will continue this season until Abu Dhabi, where the final race is scheduled as usual.

Ferrari beats McLaren in Constructors' Championship

The Brazilian GP also showed other things. For example, the battle between Ferrari and McLaren for third place in the world championship seems to be settled now. Where Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz managed to take the fifth and sixth place, McLaren didn't get further than a tenth position for Lando Norris and the retirement of Daniel Ricciardo. As a result, the gap has increased to 31.5 points.
