Valtteri Bottas has managed to beat Max Verstappen in the sprint race for pole position at the Brazilian Grand Prix. The Finn expects an interesting race tomorrow, where his teammate Lewis Hamilton will also play a role.

"It’s a pole position for tomorrow. I think the pole is the main thing, but everything went as planned. We took the soft tyre to try and have an advantage at the start, and it worked. Then it was all about keeping Max behind. It was getting more and more difficult at the end, but I’m glad it worked out," Bottas told the Ziggo Sport camera.

Max Verstappen stepped up the pressure on Bottas when he got into his DRS range, but he ultimately failed to overtake the Finn. "There wasn’t a bit more left. I was pushing as hard as I could at the end. I really think if it was two or three laps more, I would have been in big trouble," the Mercedes driver continued.

Bottas expects an interesting race

The aim is to take victory tomorrow. "It’s going to be a different game tomorrow with most likely two stops rather than one and all the temperatures. It’s going to be an interesting day, and Lewis actually also made it to a good place, so I’m sure he’s gonna play a part as well," Bottas said.
