With nineteen points ahead of Lewis Hamilton in the battle for the world championship, Max Verstappen could travel to Brazil with a good feeling. Moreover, Interlagos is a circuit that suits the Dutchman very well. During the press conference, the Red Bull Racing driver didn't want to anticipate the world title.
The dominant victory during the Mexican Grand Prix the Dutchman could not really celebrate. "I flew straight to Brazil, so there was no celebration. We still have four races to go and right after the race I was already thinking about the next one," Verstappen tells during the press conference.
Recently Verstappen visited Nelson Piquet. The media asked the Dutchman if he had asked him for advice on the fight for the title. "We didn't talk about it because I don't need advice. I know what to do in the car and I don't need to ask anyone about it. It's better to spend time as a family. Nelson has a great garage, I would like to have one too", Verstappen is quoted as saying by an F1 journalist on Twitter.
Verstappen with start number one
Verstappen doesn't want to think too much about winning the title, as there are still four races to go. He does confirm that he will drive with number one if he wins the championship. That would mean that for the first time since 2014 we will have a number one car on the grid again. The last driver to do so was Sebastian Vettel.
"How often do you get that opportunity? Of course, it's also good for the merchandise," jokes Verstappen when asked if he will drive with the first start number in 2022. Furthermore, the Dutchman is not yet thinking about the world title, as reported by Motorsport-Total.com. According to him, a lot can still happen in four races, the big lead could just be gone.
