Max Verstappen has been in Formula 1 since 2015, but still belongs to the younger generation. The Dutchman speaks to Square Mile about his relaxed attitude and the changing of the guard at the top.

Verstappen more relaxed

When Verstappen entered F1 in 2015, some said it was far too early. The Dutchman was still very young, but proved all his critics wrong. The driver showed his speed at Toro Rosso and won his first race in the service of Red Bull Racing. The speed is still there, but by now Verstappen is also much more experienced.

''I’m a more relaxed driver these days. I have a lot more experience now. I’ve been through a lot of different scenarios and situations over the years. It just makes you anticipate a lot more things, and you have so much more knowledge about a Formula One car nowadays – all these things just help to make things a lot easier'', says the 24-year old driver.

Change of guard in F1

Despite already being in his seventh season in the premier class of motorsport, Verstappen is still the figurehead of the younger generation. So it's not surprising that he's the first to take on the greatness of the previous generation: Lewis Hamilton. According to the Red Bull pupil that is only logical.

''I mean it’s a natural thing in F1, right, because every ten or 15 years, there is a bit of a shift and younger guys come in. I definitely think that it’s a little bit more than normal at the moment, with more guys coming in at the same time, which I think is good for the sport as a whole'', concludes the World Championship leader.
