Max Verstappen was not happy with his Red Bull Racing colleagues, who may have cost him pole position. Yuki Tsunoda ran off the track at the worst possible moment to try and make room for Verstappen and Sergio Perez, and it didn't work out too well. The Dutchman, however, sees a bright spot in the disappointing result.

In his interview after the race, Verstappen made a special remark. Of course, he would have preferred to start from pole position, but in his own words 'P3 is still better than P2'. Asked about that remark, he is vague, but in all likelihood, he sees an advantage in the track position and the slipstream the Mercedes cars offer him on the long straight leading up to Turn 1.

Verstappen expects to make up for disappointing qualifying

Were the problems with the rear wing solved in time? "Yes, I don't think there was anything with it. Of course, I will check if it was fixed, but I think there was nothing wrong with it," explained Verstappen at Ziggo Sport.

Is a third starting place indeed better than a second one? "Yes, I think so. Of course, I prefer to start first and then you see what happens after the first corner, but now you have to make the best of it. Now we have to look at tomorrow, I think the car is still going pretty well. In qualifying, it didn't quite come out yet, but in the race, I think we are still fast," continued the Dutchman.

"From our side at least, it was a terribly bad qualifying session," he explained to Sky Sports. "We deserve to be where we are. The lap was okay, but I definitely could have fought for pole", concludes the Red Bull driver.
