Wolff gives Verstappen a better chance: 'It's 55 against 45'

Who will be champion? Will Max Verstappen win his first title or will Lewis Hamilton win his eighth? These are exciting weeks for fans, drivers and team managers.
Wolff chooses Verstappen
Toto Wolff now also has a say in the matter. The Mercedes team boss was asked at German RTL who he thinks will be the champion. According to Wolff, the stars are currently aligned in favour of - yes - Max Verstappen, his driver Hamilton's biggest rival.
"We are 12 points behind and I cannot say that the next two circuits [Mexico and Brazil, ed.] are the most ideal for us," says Wolff. "After that come circuits that suit us. At the moment the mathematical probability of us winning the drivers' championship is 45 percent, compared to 55 percent [for Verstappen, ed.]. However, such a mathematical chance says nothing in motorsport. In one race everything can change."
Mercedes suddenly the hunter
For Mercedes, being the hunter rather than the hunted so late in the season is relatively new. Wolff knows a tough job awaits but is not giving up.
"Twelve points are not easy to turn around. We can't drop out, because if we do, it could lead to an early decision in the championship. If we lose the race Max has a 37 point lead. If he drops out, we will be a few points ahead again. It is important to have full concentration and to take the maximum number of points in the next three races. Our goal is to have a shot at the title in the last race."
