Marko points to Baku, Silverstone and Hungary: 'We lost at least fifty points'

Max Verstappen has a twelve point lead in the World Championship with five races to go. Nevertheless Helmut Marko is not reassured. The Red Bull Racing advisor first wants to see how Verstappen performs in the coming races.
The Formula 1 teams will be in action in Mexico and Brazil in the coming weeks. These are circuits that normally favour Red Bull, although Marko doesn't dare say anything with certainty. "Only if we win Mexico and Brazil, then it's sixty-forty in favor of Max," he stated in conversation with Motorsport.com. "I think we need at least two more wins to be relatively certain or at least confident going into the last two race weekends."
Marko thinks Red Bull had a lot of bad luck
The current season is full of surprises. While Red Bull performed remarkably well in the United States last weekend, Mercedes have also been able to rise above their own level on a number of occasions. At the same time, Marko reckons his team have missed out on a lot of points due to circumstances beyond their control.
"We lost the races in Baku, Silverstone and Hungary through no fault of our own. If you calculate that very carefully, we lost at least fifty points in these races. The reality is that we are now only twelve points ahead. On the other hand, we have survived all those setbacks and have also been able to absorb Mercedes' recent progression."
