Sergio Perez is where he needs to be for the United States Grand Prix. Starting from third place on the grid, he will be looking to make things difficult for Lewis Hamilton and help Max Verstappen to victory.

Pérez missed out on pole position on Saturday. Nevertheless, he draws confidence from the performance he put in, as being right behind Verstappen and Hamilton is an excellent starting point for him. "Not just from today, starting the weekend, it shows just how hard we are working behind the scenes," he said in the press conference after the qualifying session.

Perez goes on the attack

"We haven’t had the year we were hoping for," continued the Mexican. "The adaptation has been longer than expected but we’ve been working flat-out and yeah, we can see the progress and yeah, I can just expect to keep getting better."

His plan for the race is clear. "The goal is to maximize every opportunity. I think there is a long race ahead of us tomorrow and hopefully we can bring a one-two for the team tomorrow," Pérez concluded.
