Schumacher defends Vettel: "Rather, the team is currently embarrassing itself"

Sebastian Vettel is in bad shape in 2021. Before the season started people expected more from the four-time world champion than his current P12 in the championship. Fellow countryman Ralf Schumacher defends Vettel and says the reason lies mainly with the team.
Vettel less than expected
In sixteen races, Vettel managed to score points just four times, which currently puts him in twelfth place in the championship with a paltry 35 points. The highs of his two P5 results in Monaco and France pale in comparison to his lows.
In Turkey, the German even finished on P18 behind both Williams drivers. Via Sky Sports Germany former driver Schumacher said: "I am defending Sebastian against the accusation that he embarrassed the team. Rather, the team is currently embarrassing itself."
Aston Martin underperforming despite Mercedes help
Schumacher opens the attack on Lawrence Stroll's Aston Martin F1 Team. The ambitious team is totally lacking at the moment: "The development of the package is simply not going in the right direction and seems to be holding up, despite their cooperation with Mercedes."
"Of course, the fact that they have taken on so many new staff could be getting in their way."
