The start could be crucial for Max Verstappen at the Turkish Grand Prix. The Dutchman will start on the wrong side of the tarmac, so overtaking Valtteri Bottas when the lights go out is by no means a foregone conclusion.

"The main problem that I have is starting second on the inside and on there is low grip in the dry and the wet starting out there. So, I will probably lose out there and it won't be ideal," Verstappen said on Sky Sports.

Verstappen expects fast Hamilton

Verstappen will be hoping to take Bottas out at the start, but he has no illusions that he can keep the Finnish driver behind him. Indeed, he hopes to finish ahead of Hamilton in any event.

"Overall we are lacking pace to them. Lewis will come to the front but it will be difficult to keep them behind because of the pace they showed in the long runs. We need to stay realistic because I don't think that there is a lot you can force or change," he added

How easy or difficult it is to overtake at Istanbul Park remains to be seen. It will depend on the condition of the asphalt and the weather conditions.
