Verstappen's attitude applauded: "He has seen it himself"

Max Verstappen has become a regular with the Formula One stewards over time. Following his run-in with Esteban Ocon at the end of the 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix, he was required to spend a day with the stewards at a Formula E race, an experience that the Dutchman commented on in a positive way. Journalist Joe Saward has nothing but praise for Verstappen's attitude, he tells during the Missed Apex podcast.
According to Saward, such measures are good because it highlights the side of the stewards a bit more. To his mind, some fans could certainly use a different perspective. "I can understand their reaction, especially with passionate fans like Hamilton fans and Verstappen fans," Saward begins. "But some of them are completely bonkers and take everything to wild extremes."
Harsh criticism of stewards from fans
"Everyone who is on social media knows this. The only way you can judge if you're doing well is if you're insulted by both sides equally. I think it's good to teach people exactly how things work. Sometimes you hear Max say something in press conferences, defending the stewards and saying that their job is not as easy as you'd think. He knows because he's done it, he's seen it," he continues.
"I think they should all go do that to be honest. In fact, we should all do each other's job," Saward suggests. He sees the changed perspective of Verstappen, who has been critical of the stewards in the past, as the perfect example that the measure works.
