The duel in Formula 1 that everyone is looking forward to is the one between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. However, Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez are also fighting an interesting battle in the background. Which of these two is the best wingman for its leader?

Valtteri Bottas is due to leave Mercedes at the end of the season, while Perez is allowed to keep his seat. The Finn is in a better position to compete at the front of the grid than the Mexican. Bottas has also been with the team longer, so it will be easier for him to get the most out of the car.

Perez versus Bottas

Asked who will be able to exert the most influence in the rest of the season, Marc Surer's choice is therefore simple: ''You can assume that Bottas is usually upfront and can therefore influence Red Bull's strategy. I would therefore choose Bottas as second driver, simply because he is always there'', the former F1 driver revealed in a video from Formel1.de.

At ServusTV Norbert Haug has a different opinion. ''I think Perez has a very clear advantage that is not given much attention. Indeed, with him you can implement impressive strategies because he can keep his tyres alive for much longer,'' says the former Mercedes top executive.
