Sergio Perez was on for a podium at the Russian Grand Prix until late rainfall spoiled it. It's not the first time the Mexican has struggled since joining Red Bull Racing, but 'giving up' is not in his vocabulary.

"I'm not at all thinking about 2022 yet. There's still so much to do this year," he tells SoyMotor.com. "I've been in this situation before and I was able to recover. This time it will be the same, I have no doubt."

Perez still has hope to improve

"Every weekend the situation can change. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season, because we are in the middle of a great fight for the constructors' championship with Mercedes," continued the Red Bull driver.

How will he turn the situation around? "By doing things right," is the answer. "I think we have improved our pace over the last few weekends, we just need to turn that into results".

"In the past I've been in this situation too and I overcame it. I'm sure I can do the same now, because I have full confidence in this team and there are still many races to go," Pérez concludes optimistically.
