Max Verstappen's qualifying was over before it even started. The Dutchman didn't feel the need to set a time, as he will start from the back anyway after his engine change. However, there are chances for points in the race.

Verstappen goes out on his own

"Yeah, there's no point in driving that qualifying. So then we'd better just save everything. I did drive a lap myself and it feels good. The track was fine to drive," said Verstappen in conversation with Ziggo Sport.

"I have to go out by myself tomorrow and try to overtake people and get as many points as possible. I'm not so worried about that," concluded the Dutchman. Verstappen must hope that teammate Sergio Perez can attack the Mercedes and that the top three of Lando Norris, Carlos Sainz and George Russell can hold off the Mercedes for long.
