Pirelli suffered a big disappointment on Thursday
- GPblog.com
Pirelli saw the final day of testing for the 18-inch tyre go down the drain on Thursday. Due to a technical problem with Alpine's car, it could not take place, reports Motorsportweek.com.
The test days took place on Wednesday and Thursday. Daniil Kvyat, who is this year's reserve driver for Alpine, was assigned to drive the two days. On Wednesday he was able to provide the necessary data, but on Thursday he was suddenly unable to continue the test.
According to the media, Pirelli and the FIA are currently evaluating the situation and the tyre supplier is trying to collect the necessary data. It is unknown if the test will take place at a later date.
More changes in Formula 1
Formula 1-teams will use the 18-inch tyre as standard from next season, making the test important heading into 2022. It is not exactly the only change that will take place after this year, as the FIA decided to intervene in other areas as well. These include means of getting the teams closer together.
