Wolff pleads for agreements between Hamilton and Verstappen in continuation of title fight

At Monza last weekend it was that time again. The book of the battle between the titans Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton got a new page, after both drivers couldn't finish the race because of a crash. Toto Wolff, team principal of Mercedes, thinks that the two will have to find a way to fight each other without incidents.
Agreements necessary
Already after the start the two drivers who are fighting it out for the title collided. Wolff explains to AUTOhebdo that Hamilton gave the Dutchman the space here that Verstappen did not give back later in the race. "Hamilton gave Verstappen enough space in the first lap. In hindsight, it would have been better to crash then. Then we could have at least saved kilometres on the power unit," said Wolff.
Wolff continued: "When the situation was reversed, Verstappen could have done the same to avoid contact. However, as soon as Verstappen had that opportunity, he didn't take it." In addition, the Austrian may also be referring to an action premeditated by the Dutchman: "It is necessary to make an agreement so that everyone is well aware that one does not prevent the other from scoring by simply ending someone else's race. "
Problems in the future?
According to the Mercedes team boss, improvement is therefore needed from both sides to avoid the same incident in the future: "We have seen similar incidents in the past between drivers competing for the title. We need to find an operational mode to control this confrontation, but this can only come from the drivers. If this does not happen then problems will continue to arise."
