Mercedes: 'Thank you FIA, the Halo saved Hamilton's life'
- GPblog.com
The crash of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton was of course the moment of last weekend. For the second time in a short time, both drivers were involved in the same incident. Still, besides the penalty Verstappen received, which was a grid penalty for the race in Russia next week, there was a lot of talk about the Halo.
Especially in the replay and the slow-motion footage, it was clearly visible how the rear tire of Verstappen's car hit the Halo of Hamilton. If the Halo would not have been there, things could have been a lot worse. Mercedes realises this as well.
Halo has saved Hamilton's life
Mercedes says this in a message on Twitter. Below the text the picture is shown again which makes it clear that things could have gone differently if the Halo would not have been there. Hamilton's team also thanks the FIA for making the sport safe.
