The Italian Grand Prix will not only be remembered as the race won by Daniel Ricciardo, but also as the race with the incident between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. The Dutchman's car crashed into Hamilton, preventing both drivers from continuing.

During the race, discussions already arose about where the fault lay. Where Verstappen was barely given space by his competitor to take the outside line, Hamilton countered back that there was no room to overtake at that moment.

Afterwards, Nico Hülkenberg was asked by Ziggo Sports asked what he thought of the moment between the two drivers. The German judged the moment clearly. "That's just racing. They were both just racing hard and it's really nice to see it go like that in the championship. Both of them could have maybe left a bit more space, but this just happens. If I was a steward, I wouldn't do anything."

Verstappen versus Hamilton

Verstappen captured two more points for the world championship during the sprint race, giving him a five-point lead over his rival after the weekend. In Russia, Mercedes are again the favourites.
