Hamilton: 'Verstappen in the best shape of his life physically and mentally'
- GPblog.com
The battle between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen has not gone unnoticed this year. Partly due to the races in Silverstone and Hungary this battle outside the circuit got a new dimension. Hamilton is also aware of this.
During the weekend in Zandvoort he was able to answer some questions from young viewers of the youthjournaal. Of course this conversation was also about his battle with the Dutchman.
"It's enormously difficult to race against Verstappen, but there are so many drivers who are difficult to fight. Yet Verstappen is extra difficult because he is very talented and is in a good team. He is in the best shape of his life at the moment, both physically and mentally I think. It's a hard fight, but that's what makes it beautiful."
Hamilton on his 100th win in F1
This win has been a long time coming, in fact. So far he has collected 99 victories. So it could well be that he gets to celebrate his 100th win in F1 this coming weekend at Monza.
"I don't know how it will feel to take my 100th win. I never thought I would get this far, so it feels a bit surreal. 'We work hard to be champions, but that's easier said than done. There are so many uncertainties to take into account. All we can do is make the most of it day to day and then we'll see where we are."
Hamilton will not only be going for his 100th win at Monza this coming weekend, but also to regain first place in the championship ahead of Verstappen.
