Croft: 'Verstappen not given grid penalty after incident with Stroll'
- GPblog.com
We are still waiting for the official confirmation from the FIA, but it looks like Max Verstappen has crawled through the eye of the needle. The Dutchman was overtaking Lance Stroll when the red flag waved but did not seem to be able to stop in time to avoid passing Stroll. Normally that results in a penalty, but he seems to have avoided that now.
That is what F1 journalist and commentator David Croft says on Twitter. The official confirmation is still pending, but a grid penalty is not the fate of the Dutchman. This gives him a chance to take pole position for Sunday's race, which is important at Zandvoort because overtaking is difficult.
Waiting for official confirmation, but it’s my understanding that there will be NO penalty for Max Verstappen after his trip to the stewards room this morning.
