Max Verstappen drove the second and fifth fastest times respectively during the first day of racing at Zandvoort. Although the free practice sessions say nothing about Saturday's qualifying, the Dutchman knows his team still has to work hard.
Verstappen saw plenty of opportunities for improvement during the free practice sessions, he told Verstappen.com. "I don't think our pace in the short run was representative of what we can deliver, because after just one lap the tyres lose their performance and my fastest lap was driven on a used set."
"Still, we will work on some things that we are not completely satisfied with in the short term," Verstappen continued. "There are a few things we need to understand a bit better to find some speed for qualifying. ”
