Red Bull and Mercedes disagree: Who was the first Dutch world champion?

The heated battle between Red Bull and Mercedes is not only being fought out on the tarmac and in the garages. The two title contenders are also squabbling on Twitter. The most recent point of contention: which team was the first Dutch motorsport world champion?
The disagreement began when Mercedes' official twitter account posted a photo of Nyck de Vries on the track at Zandvoort today, with the caption: "The first Dutch motorsport World Champion." Last month, the driver from Sneek became World Champion in Formula E with Mercedes.
Red Bull parries
Red Bull Racing was not amused by the claim of the German team and reacted quickly. In response, the team shared a photo of Jeffrey Herlings, who became the 2018 motocross world champion with Red Bull.
"Jeffrey Herlings was actually the very first Dutch motocross world champion in 2018," the team let Mercedes and the world know via Twitter.
