Hamilton unhappy with Mercedes' choice of drivers: 'He doesn't want Russell'
- GPblog.com
It seems only a matter of time before George Russell will be announced at Mercedes, but not everyone within the Mercedes camp is waiting for the arrival of the young Brit. Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton still seems to be in the way.
That is according to The Daily Mail who claim they have been told that Toto Wolff has already made the decision and that Hamilton is not happy about it. "Toto has made the decision to go for George. Lewis has heard it and is not happy about it. He wanted Valtteri as a teammate because he is fast, but not fast enough to be a danger to him."
Mercedes can't avoid Russell
Mercedes seem almost unable to avoid Russell, after a points finish in Hungary and a second place in Spa, which he got somewhat as a gift after a rained out Sunday, but nevertheless he was able to take home a trophy. It is expected that within a few weeks the official confirmation will come that Russell will be a Mercedes driver next year.
The young Brit from Williams already has experience in the Mercedes car, as he replaced Hamilton in Bahrain last year. He was fast right from the start and that will probably have caused some early turmoil for Hamilton. This season it appeared once again that it is mainly a question of when Russell will drive for Mercedes and not if he will be there.
