Wolff adds fuel to the fire: 'Other side does the opposite'

Mercedes and Red Bull Racing are battling it out this year, and as a result some relationships are coming to a head. Helmut Marko and Christian Horner regularly battle with Toto Wolff, and according to the latter, the relationship was never great.
In a title fight everything is done to beat the opponent, and mental games are therefore not avoided. Several top managers of Mercedes and Red Bull have already attacked each other with statements to the media, and that puts the relations on edge. Wolff now speaks out about those tensions.
Red Bull versus Mercedes
"Just because certain individuals don't get along, it doesn't mean you don't respect the other side and the people who work there, who are trying to do their job the best they can to make their own dreams come true and overcome their own concerns. There's always respect for these organisations, and for the people in the organizations, and for the people on the teams," Wolff said to Motorsport.com.
Yet Wolff also stresses that the relationship wasn't great even before this championship. "The relationship was never brilliant, and that's because of the pure competition we have. But I would say that in the war of words we tried to keep a cool head, stay level-headed and not stir up more controversy and polarization among our fans. The goal was always to de-escalate. Unfortunately, the opposite is happening on the other side," Wolff concluded with a sneer at Red Bull.
