For some time now there have been rumours about a Grand Prix in London. Recently, Mayor Sadiq Khan declared that he wants to see it happen. Christian Horner now also expresses his support.

Mayor Khan already announced that there are talks with F1. Toto Wolff also showed interest in London, as long as the race at Silverstone remains. Horner also agrees with Wolff for once.

“We saw from the event in Trafalgar Square a few years ago the appetite for F1 and it showed it is possible to close central London down to hold an event", Horner said to the Evening Standard.

“It would be a fantastic advert for London and great to see and hear GP cars around the streets. As with all these things, it’s never straightforward."

Race in London challenging, but not unfeasible

“The most important thing is the desire for it. If the Mayor wants it to happen, if the Government wants it to happen and Formula One wants it to happen, hopefully, there’s enough intent that it’s not unfeasible," Horner said.

In 2017, 100.000 people attended the F1 live event in London to see drivers in their cars. Hosting a race in a city like London is challenging, but Formula E has proven it is not impossible with the London ePrix returning to the calendar this year.
