Sergio Perez no doubt expected more from his Saturday at Silverstone. After a spin, he was the only one to retire, so he will have to start the British Grand Prix in last place. The 31-year-old Mexican is very disappointed.

"Basically, I became a passenger very early in the corner," Perez said to Sky Sports' cameras about his spin with the RB16B midway through the sprint race. "I was picking up the throttle and caught me out of position and there was nothing I could do. I was a passenger. Sorry to the team."

Perez had vibrations

Max Verstappen's teammate is putting his hand up. At the same time, he wants to forget this day as soon as possible. "Tomorrow is a new day and a new opportunity," said Perez, who concludes by explaining why the team chose not to finish the race. "We had big vibrations".

Red Bull Racing and Verstappen will have to make do without Perez's contribution in the battle for their sixth win in a row. In terms of strategy, he could have come in very handy to put pressure on Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas. Perez himself will be hoping to at least reach the points from P20.
