Red Bull Racing celebrated two convincing victories in Austria in the past two weeks. Max Verstappen proved to be the best in both the Styrian and Austrian Grand Prix. His rival Lewis Hamilton had to watch as he increased his lead in the world championship.
Verstappen received a lot of praise in the media for the way he managed to win the two races. Peter Windsor also thinks the performance of the Dutchman is great. "He's winning these races like World Champions in the making", he judged. in his video. "The Red Bull just had more efficient downforce and more grip than the McLaren. Those two high-rake cars turned out to have the two best chassis in Austria."
McLaren proved competitive with Mercedes in the races, which did not surprise Windsor. "Mercedes struggled to keep up, Valtteri got in for half a lap and then Lewis passed him again, but they couldn't do anything about McLaren's top speed. There was a demonstration of high-rake v the rake level of Mercedes."
Verstappen vs Hamilton
Hamilton is now looking at a 32-point deficit in the world championship. Red Bull is also trailing further in the constructors' championship. The lead of the Austrians is currently 44 points.
