Leclerc: 'It's probably one of my best performances in Formula 1'
- Toby McLuskie
Charles Leclerc had the busiest race of every driver on the grid today. The Ferrari driver finished in seventh place after dropping down to last following an incident with Pierre Gasly on the first turn of the race.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the race, the Monegasque explained how the race ended being a positive for the team after the first lap incident.
"If we look at the first lap, it's been an incredible race for us and we have been incredibly quick. However, there is this first lap that basically stopped us from doing something much better today. It was a big opportunity."
When questioned about the race incident, he stated that "to be honest, I need to rewatch the footage from outside. I don't know if Pierre went to the left or I went to the right but at the same time it's a bit of both and we touched."
He finished by adding he's excited to return next weekend. "I am looking forward to next week. It's been a long time that we haven't had this race pace so it's good to see."
