Capito on Russell: "He would be stupid not doing it"

According to Williams team principal Jost Capito George Russell has no problem with staying longer at Williams. According to the German Russell is enjoying his job and would like to drive another year for the team from Grove.
"George’s contract ends at the end of the year, a three-year contract that ends, that’s it: he’s free at the end of the year," Capito is quoted by F1i.com. Russell is in the spotlight at Mercedes and could well replace Valtteri Bottas at the end of the season.
Will Russell stay longer at Williams?
"I think at the moment, he likes being at Williams. He likes working with us. He sees where the team is going. He sees the changes we are doing, the approach we are taking," Capito continued.
Capito knows that when Mercedes knocks on the door he will lose Russell. "Of course, if he would get the chance to go in a Mercedes, he would be stupid not doing it." But if the Briton is not allowed to drive for Mercedes, Russell would be well placed at Williams.
