Albon on Red Bull period: Max is a "very complete" driver
- GPblog.com
Alexander Albon saw his dream come true when he drove for Red Bull Racing for a year and a half. However, the Thai driver didn't perform well enough for the team and had to make way for Sergio Pérez. Despite his short time at Red Bull, he learned a lot at the team.
The 25-year-old Albon competed against many great drivers in his Formula 1 career, but cites his Dutch former teammate as the best driver he has been on a circuit with. "Toughest opponent would definitely be Max Verstappen," he tells Square Mile. "When you’re in different teams it's hard to compare yourself. Obviously, some races you are quicker than others."
Albon can still clearly remember the moment he first encountered Verstappen. "I was racing against George, Lando in F2 in 2018 and we were all very close there. That progress into F1 and then having Max as my team mate, he was very quick, very strong driver, very complete and very experienced for someone his age."
Verstappen in battle with Hamilton
Verstappen seemingly has a good chance of winning the world championship this season. The Dutchman has a small lead over Hamilton with Red Bull for now and will be hoping to stay ahead of the Mercedes driver once again in France.
