Sergio Perez's victory in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix has done a lot of damage limitation for Red Bull Racing. After Max Verstappen's tyre blowout, things looked bad, but by winning the race and forcing Lewis Hamilton into an unusual mistake on the restart, the team still had a 25-point lead on Mercedes.

"It was a crazy race, a rollercoaster. It was very important to keep our heads down, especially on the restart," Perez told Ziggo Sport. "The whole team stayed focused and did a great job. I'm very sorry for Max because he deserved the win and it would have been incredible to get a 1-2 for the team. But it was still a good day for the team."

Problems with Pirelli tyres need to be investigated according to Perez

Perez says he has not felt any problems with the tyres. "It does need to be looked at, because it looked pretty bad. Lance was going through something similar as Max, and the speeds we were doing were tremendous. So it definitely needs to be looked at," said the 31-year-old Mexican.

One thing is certain: the Baku circuit is a good one for Perez. His win also marked his third podium in Azerbaijan, and the conclusion is therefore more than understandable: "We love Baku."
