Column: Error of Hamilton is not an isolated case
- GPblog.com
Lewis Hamilton was fairly certain of the lead in the world championship in recent years. Although Sebastian Vettel with his Ferrari made it difficult for him, it was Mercedes that won the world title with relative ease. This season, however, the Englishman is facing more pressure, which he finds difficult to cope with.
In the sixth race of the season, Hamilton made another mistake. The seven-times world champion saw Max Verstappen retire after a puncture. After a red flag, he had the chance to take the lead, but Hamilton made a big mistake. This left him empty-handed at the end of the weekend.
It seems as if Hamilton is starting to feel the pressure from Verstappen. The Dutchman drove an excellent race and deserved to take the win. The blowout was completely out of his control, but apart from that, the Red Bull Racing driver showed he is a real threat to Hamilton's title hopes.
Mercedes at the next Grands Prix
In the coming races, it will be interesting to see how Hamilton handles the pressure. Although the Formula 1 teams will be going to circuits that suit Mercedes in the coming weeks, the team is far from quiet behind the scenes. It is to be hoped that Hamilton does not have any more problems in the near future.
