Full results FP2: Pérez and Verstappen in front, no Mercedes in top 10
- GPblog.com
Red Bull Racing has had an excellent second free practice. Max Verstappen set the fastest time in the morning session, but a few hours later he had to leave this honour to Sergio Pérez. Ferrari finished just behind him.
The Italian team made an excellent start to the session, setting two fast lap times, but had to give way to Red Bull Racing at the end of the session. Charles Leclerc crashed into the wall at about the halfway point of the practice session, necessitating a new front wing. Pérez and Verstappen recorded a time of 1:42:115 and 1:42:216 respectively.
Mercedes had another disappointment during the second free practice. Again the team could not keep up with the big teams. Lewis Hamilton was not able to go further than eleventh, while Valtteri Bottas was in sixteenth place at the end of the session.
