Davidson: "Verstappen has shown great signs of maturity in 2021" as duel heats up

In Monaco Max Verstappen managed to take over the lead in the championship from Lewis Hamilton. The Dutchman won the Grand Prix, while Hamilton disappointed with a seventh place. In Baku the Red Bull Racing driver seems to be the fastest driver again, while Mercedes is still struggling to find the speed.
At Sky Sports, Anthony Davidson looks back on the race in Monaco. "He's driven a great long stint in the beginning of the race. And they capitalised on a circuit where they needed to do, just like Mercedes did in Barcelona". Paul di Resta sees that Verstappen could have had a bigger lead.
Verstappen makes few mistakes
"Hamilton is lucky to be in the position he is in with the race being red flagged in Imola. He got that lap back. That would have been Verstappen another step in front, he hasn't put a step wrong. In qualifying, yes, he maybe hasn't got the laps together. But he has extracted the most out of it and been consistent which is a big difference to how he has been in the past," Di Resta explained.
Davidson also sees that Verstappen has matured. "Verstappen has shown great signs of maturity this year and it's great he is leading the championship." Di Resta expects Hamilton and Verstappen to clash. "This is where the two of them are going to get in an arm wrestle. They are going to come together." Davidson tempered those expectations, however. "Let's not speak too soon, it's a long season."
