Lewis Hamilton has not only shown himself in recent years with his world titles, but he has also been quite active off the track. The Englishman is committed to the movement 'black lives matter' and shows his involvement in many other ways. Jean Todt thinks this is a good thing.

The FIA president sees that Hamilton's calls are attracting a lot of publicity. "Fifty years ago Lee Evans made a fist at the Olympics. Now you make a gesture and the world sees it in a second on social media," he says in an interview with Corriere dello Sport. "He's a champion, he knows it, and he's giving messages. That's fine with me, as long as it's not politics."

Todt feels that changes are imminent in the sport as well, but doesn't know if they can happen at such a high speed. "We are working hard to get champions of all nationalities, we are striving for gender equality - there are already many women in leadership positions at the FIA - but certain processes take time."

Hamilton in world championship

Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton has to make do with second place in the championship for now. Max Verstappen won Sunday afternoon in Monaco and thus reached more points than the English driver.
