Rumor | Contract talks between Hamilton and Mercedes have reportedly stalled
- GPblog.com
The events in Monaco have in all likelihood not brought Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes any closer together. Hamilton blamed his team for the poor result and said he did everything right. For the rumour circuit it is time to speculate about the talks about a contract extension, which are said to have stalled.
Contract extension Hamilton and Mercedes in doubt?
Both Hamilton and Mercedes have lost the lead in the world championship after the Monaco Grand Prix. Valtteri Bottas was doing well in second place when his pit stop took a dramatic turn forcing him to retire.
After qualifying, the world champion confronted his engineers, but to no avail. Throughout the race, he could be heard seething on the board radio, questioning every decision made by the team.
All of this has contributed to new rumours circulating that there are cracks appearing in the team, led by Toto Wolff, while talks about a contract extension were supposed to take place. Those talks have now come to a standstill, according to the Spanish branch of Motorsport.com. This would mean that time is running out, as Hamilton and Mercedes have to agree on a decision by September.
