Max Verstappen's chances of starting from pole position in the Monaco Grand Prix seem to grow. To several media, including the NOS he says that the impact of Charles Leclerc's crash has been considerable.

"The rear of Charles Leclerc doesn't look the best. If it had been our car we would have had to replace the gearbox one hundred percent for sure. But maybe the Ferrari is more solid," Verstappen insists.

Verstappen was between one and a half tenths and two tenths quicker than Leclerc's pole time in his third and final run in Q3, but he never managed to clock up a time. That was of course due to the fact that the Monegasque drove his car into the crushers and caused the red flag.

Verstappen speaks of an 'unfortunate' situation

Verstappen: "If Charles had parked it with a broken front wing, it would have been a different story. But he hit the wall and it ended for him where I also stood twice. It was just unfortunate."
