Helmut Marko saw Red Bull Racing top Sergio Perez in the first free practice session, but the Austrian outfit had to make do with fourth and eighth in the afternoon session. The Austrian saw his team take a wrong turn.

Speaking to Motorsport-Magazin Red Bull Racing's advisor says the changes made to the set-up at FP2 were wrong. However, Marko is confident that they can still fight for pole if the RB16B returns to the set-up they started with in Monaco.

Ferrari surprise Red Bull

The Ferrari's came out like a jack-in-the-box on Thursday, finishing in the top-three in the first free practice session and a P1 and P2 during the second practice session. Verstappen's gap was around four-tenths. "The times of Ferrari are impressive," Marko told the German medium.

With Friday's session on Monaco's narrow street circuit off-limits Red Bull have an extra 24 hours to prepare for qualifying. That doesn't seem to be a bad thing for the Milton Keynes based team this time around.
