Formula 1 teams and drivers pay tribute to the death of Niki Lauda
- GPblog.com
It was two years ago today that Niki Lauda passed away. The Austrian was a beloved person, having walked the paddock as a racing driver, but also in various other functions. He is therefore still not forgotten.
Lauda not forgotten
Lauda passed away at a Zurich hospital during his sleep on May 20, 2019. The three-time Formula One world champion lay there for problems with his kidneys, and passed away peacefully, according to the family's statement. The top Mercedes driver had been in poorer health for some time and had been hospitalised several times.
Lauda was honoured at the last Monaco Grand Prix in 2019, with an action of red caps with the name NIKI. In addition, Lauda received his own red star in the livery of Mercedes, which can still be found on it. Other teams and drivers have not forgotten Lauda either, according to Thursday's online posts.
