Alonso aims for Q3 and points in Monaco: "It must be possible"

Fernando Alonso has won the Monaco Grand Prix twice before, but it is unlikely that he will win a third this year. Nevertheless, the Spaniard is looking forward to this weekend in the principality with confidence.
Optimistic about chances
So far Alonso's comeback in Formula 1 is not going smoothly. Teammate Esteban Ocon is mainly faster and an eighth place in Portugal is so far the best result of the double world champion. In Barcelona, Alonso even had to settle for seventeenth.
In Monaco, however, he expects to do better. "I'm positive about it, at this circuit with its slow corners the car should handle well," quote Speedweek.com. "We are optimistic about our chances to reach Q3 and score points for both cars. We have to do our work especially on Saturday, but it should be possible."
Unique circuit
In 2006 and 2007 Alonso won the race on the street circuit. "It's a very special weekend and a unique circuit. The adrenaline is higher than at any other race, so I can't wait to get back in the car and get going."
It has been said many times before, but the drivers will have to rely mainly on qualifying in Monaco as overtaking is very difficult due to Monaco's narrow streets. "Saturday is crucial here, so you give everything in that round and don't keep anything in your quiver. On Sunday in the race you maybe go a bit more careful with it. But in the last practice I would say you drive a normal qualifying lap, as always."
