One of the Grand Prix winning Formula One cars of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton will be auctioned at Silverstone this summer. It is the first such car to be sold, and is estimated to be worth between five and seven million dollars, reports Motorsportweek.

It concerns the MP4-25A, the car with which Hamilton won the Turkish Grand Prix for McLaren. He did this alongside teammate Jenson Button.

The car will be auctioned during the Grand Prix weekend in Silverstone, which will take place between July 17 and 19. The MP4-25A will be demonstrated before the first sprint race of the season, which is also scheduled during this weekend.

Extremely Rare

When asked about the reason behind the car's enormous value, a spokesman for car auctioneer RM Sotheby's clarified: "It is believed there only a scarce few of such cars in private ownership... And another is unlikely to be sold in the near future."
