It is clear that Max Verstappen is not happy with his weekend in Portugal so far. The Portimao circuit was even a favourite track for him, but that has now changed.

The classic Portimao circuit is a popular track for many drivers, thanks to the many differences in altitude that the circuit has. It's also a challenging track, especially when there's a lot of wind like during qualifying for the Portuguese Grand Prix.

After qualifying Max Verstappen was clearly not satisfied, but that is largely due to the new tarmac that the organisation laid down last year. And that has not changed according to the Dutch. "I had already checked the MotoGP times and they were already the same as last year. I know they have a slightly different front tyre there now, but yeah, those times are just poor," Verstappen told during the press conference after qualifying, according to Formula1.com.

Not the favourite track anymore?

The new asphalt is causing so many changes that Portimao doesn't even seem to be a favourite track for the Red Bull Racing driver anymore. "I remember when we came here last year. To be honest, it's in my top three favourite tracks, but then they changed the tarmac and well... I don't enjoy it anymore," the Dutchman admitted harshly.

In fact, Verstappen said he hasn't enjoyed a single lap of the track this weekend, but perhaps that could change tomorrow.
