Valtteri Bottas is holding Lewis Hamilton back from his 100th pole position in his Formula One career. The Finn will start from pole on Sunday and will see his teammate next to him on the front row.

Qualifying still not going well in 2021

"It's a good feeling to be on pole. It feels like it's been a while. Qualifying has been a weak point for me in the first two races trying to get the tyres to work but again this weekend we have been working hard and nice to see it is paying off," said Bottas.

"The whole weekend it has been a so-so feeling with the soft tyres and we have been getting better with the medium tyres like last year we put the medium on at the end of qualifying and it worked. We tried it again," said the Mercedes driver.

Sunday for the win

"Starting on the medium tyres gives us a good opportunity and we can pretty much stay out for as long as we want in the first stint. Need to focus on the race start and go from there," concluded the Finn.
