It was a remarkable moment after the qualifying session of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix when Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton give each other a little shove during the interviews. A lot of people didn't see the harm in it, but Jos Verstappen sees it as a sign.

Hamilton and Verstappen relationship

In a Instagram live session between Jack van Gelder and Jos Verstappen, one of the viewers asks Jos what he thinks about the relationship between Hamilton and Verstappen this year. "You don't know how it will develop, but when I see after the qualifying of the last race that they are running against each other I think we can expect something this year, says Max' father with a smile.

The long desired battle between the Dutchman and reigning world champion finally seems to be a reality this season. Only two races have been completed, but the battle between the two drivers is already fiercer than ever. Hamilton now leads the championship by one point.

Both alpha males

The battle between the two will only get fiercer, thinks Verstappen senior. "They are both alpha males and they don't want to be inferior to each other. And soon it will be even more about the championship. Neither of them will be pushed aside. I do think it's going to be a nice and intense year."

So it looks like Verstappen could have a serious shot at the title for the first time this season, although he thinks there are both positives and negatives to that. "The fact that we can win every race gives more peace of mind in theory I would say, because we know Max is in the right place at Red Bull. But yes, at the same time it does bring extra pressure."
