Perez optimistic after chaotic first day at Red Bull: "Race pace looks good"

Friday was not Red Bull Racing's best ever Friday in Formula 1, but Sergio Perez is hopeful that Christian Horner and Helmut Marko's Austrian team can perform well. Perez and Max Verstappen should have opportunities in both qualifying and Sunday's race.
“It was definitely good to get a decent amount of laps in the second session today and to get a feel for the car on a different track. The track conditions are obviously very different here compared to Bahrain so I’m just learning how the car behaves on different tracks. We’ve learnt a lot today as a Team and for every lap I do, I learn a few tricks here and there," Perez said in a Red Bull press release after the first day of the weekend at Imola.

The Mexican is looking forward to what the rest of the weekend will bring for Red Bull. "The race pace seems to be strong and the car felt good, hopefully, we can pull it all together in qualifying tomorrow," said an optimistic Perez.
Finally, he briefly looks back at his touché with Esteban Ocon in the first free practice session, which caused him to miss out on quite a bit of track time. "With the incident this morning, we didn’t have radio so I think there was a miscommunication through there and I think it was just bad timing."
