Hamilton cautious in Imola: "Don't think we have seen the best from Red Bull yet"
Mercedes topped the timesheets in both Friday practice sessions ahead of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola. After a difficult weekend in Bahrain, it looks as if Mercedes have found improvements ahead of the second race of the season. But Lewis Hamilton remains wary of Red Bull after they had a "messy session".
Expecting Red Bull to improve
Sergio Perez had a crash in the first practice session on Friday morning, and then Max Verstappen had to stop out on the track with a driveshaft problem. This meant that Red Bull lost a lot of data. Hamilton is prepared to see Red Bull improve over the next two days.
"I don't think we have seen the best from Red Bull yet they have had traffic and a messy session," Hamilton told Sky Sports.
"I think the team [Mercedes] has definitely worked really hard to try and understand what happened at the last race and where we were weak and tweak the car a bit better with the set-up. And, I think the track has come a little bit more in our direction."
