With a sixteenth place finish in the race, Mick Schumacher did not exactly have a dream debut in Formula 1, but driving the Haas, perhaps not much more can be expected from the young German. In any case, Schumacher himself wants to learn as much as possible.

Over in the blink of an eye

Haas team boss Guenther Steiner has stressed it several times already, 2021 will be used mainly to let both Schumacher and his debuting teammate Nikita Mazepin gain as much experience as possible. Bahrain was in any case already a start. "I feel like I know a lot more now and am much more comfortable, but I was also really surprised how quickly the weekend was over," he told his team's preview. "It all happened in the blink of an eye - it was a case of little time and a lot to learn, let's put it that way."

Preparation for Imola

After the opening race, it was an immediate three-week break between races. Schumacher spent that time mainly preparing for Imola. "As usual, we had a few team meetings after the weekend to see what we learned and to put everything in order for Imola. I've been preparing physically, while also doing a bit of recovery. I've really focused one hundred percent to go to Imola."

Schumacher has raced at Imola before and he can certainly put that experience to good use this coming weekend. "In all the junior categories I've raced in, it's always been a lot of fun and a circuit I've loved to drive at. I'm pretty sure it will be even better in a Formula 1 car. It's already great to drive a Formula 1 car, so to do it on a super cool circuit will be even more special. I'm definitely looking forward to it."
