Formula 1 changes timetable Emilia-Romagna GP
- GPblog.com
Due to the death of Prince Philip, Formula 1 has decided to slightly change the schedule for this weekend. The funeral of the Prince, who passed away on 9 April at the age of 99, will start at 15.00 hours on Saturday 17 April. Qualifying for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix at Imola was scheduled for 2pm but has now been moved to 1pm.
Regulatory requirements
Due to the regulations, this change affects both Friday and Saturday. The first free practice on Friday will now start at 10:00am instead of 10:30am. The second free practice will also start half an hour earlier, at 13.30hrs. Afterwards, there must be at least 19 hours between the second and third free practice, which starts at 10.00 hours on Saturday instead of 11.00 hours. Qualifying is moved from 14.00 hours to 13.00 hours. This is out of respect for the funeral of Prince Philip.
The adjusted schedule has no effect on the Grand Prix which will start as planned on Sunday at 14.00 hrs.
